Moving is hard, it is really hard and not your biggest dream, am I right?

Going away from your loved ones, changing jobs, schools, homes, is not really fun you could say, in fact you might be thinking it’s a disaster! Well stop thinking that!

Press the rewind button and think again, think of the positive. However, if the case is you are thinking “how in the world can there be something positive about this?!” Well let me tell you my story.

I first moved when I was only 4 years old, from Madrid to an island in Spain.

I don’t remember much, but what I do know is that I left all my family.

I only had my parents by then, but then I met two of my best friends today, that I love so much! I lived there 6 years until we had to move to Colombia, it broke my heart leaving, but then I met two of my other best friends there, that mean a lot to me. After two years of living there my mom and I moved to Denmark, my dad stayed in Colombia because of his job and it was one of the most difficult things, especially because I didn’t really make any friends and I went to two schools in just one year. The good thing however, was that I had my Danish family close, I absolutely love Denmark and I have learned a lot there. After a year we came back to Colombia and that is where I am at now.

My point is that no matter how many times you move, how much experience you have or if it’s your first time moving, it is always going to be hard, but DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT lose hope because there is always something good.

If I hadn’t moved to that island maybe I wouldn’t have learned to ride, if I hadn’t moved to Colombia I wouldn’t have met so many wonderful people or learned to play the guitar and if I hadn’t moved to Denmark I wouldn’t have had the chance to experience living close to my family. Everything could have been different, I would have had another life.

Have you ever wondered, what would have happened if you had done a specific thing different or hadn’t done it? I have and I do believe that every single move we make can change everything. What if you had taken a different way to school or work, then maybe you would have discovered a new park or restaurant where you bumped into someone, that could either be the love of your life or give you a huge opportunity for your career.

Moving opens more doors giving you more opportunities.

If you are worried that you will loose the connection with your friends, then don’t be.

There might be this thing called time difference, but don’t let that stop you. Even if you can’t have a full conversation, just send a text to them before you go to bed and in the morning they will see it. Asking them a simple question like, how they are, how is school, how is their family

is still very important and meaningful. You are going to miss them that’s for sure, but think that sometime you will see them again! This is also good, it’s going to put your friendship to the test and make it even stronger and better.

To make new friends, just be yourself and you will find the correct people that should be in your life and that you are going to love and they are going to love you for who you are.

Finally I wanted to say something really important. My mom usually says that “in every place there is always something good and something bad”. When you move from your home, you might only remember the good things about it and only see the bad things about the place you are, but remember your home also had some bad things and there are plenty of wonderful things everywhere, you only have to look around you. So give time a chance, be patient, be positive and it will be fine.

How are you going to change your mindset and be more positive?

Remember, BE YOU.

Naia :)
