Do you have any mean people at your school or work? Do they say mean things to you?
Do you feel like they are draining your energy and making you sad?
They are simply trying to put you down. Think of this of as a compliment, they think you are stronger, more beautiful, they think you are overpowering their image. This probably means they have a low self esteem or they are going through something hard, you might have heard this in movies, but it’s true. They try to be mean so people have respect form them (which is not really respect, it’s fear), so they can feel more powerful, they think that is true but they are making themselves weaker with time and end up with no friends.
If you try making comebacks and being mean to them, you can also become a mean person.
They will think of you as their biggest target, because they also get hurt even if they don’t admit it. One of the biggest life lessons I know is “treat others like you would like to be treated”, if you are nice to them, then they will realise there is no purpose in putting you down, they will get tired and unfortunately be mean to another person until they realise that there is no point in doing what they are doing. Maybe they will ask for help with their problems and turn out to be amazing people. Even better put some humour into it by throwing a joke or fact, they are going to look confused by why you are being nice, then just say “kill ‘em with kindness” (song by Selena Gomez).
I know it’s really hard to have that kind of attitude when you have no energy and feel powerless, but just think that the one who actually has more power is you. By doing this you will not only be making the situation better, but you will also look stronger and more confident than the people who make comebacks.
I was bullied a few years back and I can say that I wish I knew those things. Many times I tried to make comebacks and completely failed . If I knew there was another way of handling the situation, I would have used it the best way I could.
Some quotes:
“Some people only hate you because of the way other people love you”
“Be kind to unkind people. They need it the most.” (By Ashleigh Brilliant)
“Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much” (By Oscar Wilde)
I know this post is on the shorter side, but I hope that you still enjoyed it and learned something from it.
Have a good day!
