"Enjoy The Little Things"

One of my ultimate favourite quotes is “enjoy the little things” (author unknown).
There are moments in our life where we are desperately looking for something to look forward to. We think, “I have nothing good to look forward to”, we are just making ourselves sad, giving no meaning to our life. However, even if it is just a lunch the next day with your friend, in the future it is going to matter. If there was a joke that you laughed at for hours, or talks about life that made you realise a really important lesson, in the future you are going to look back at it and say “wow! Those where good times”. Make memories. “Enjoy the little things because one day you will look back and realise they were the big things” (by Kurt Vonnegut).
Enjoying those small things in life is really important, maybe they are not the biggest of events, like a trip to Japan for example or a concert of your favourite singer, but they are moments that matter, that can lead to other moments that are bigger. They might be small but they are meaningful.
When life gets tough, our first reaction is to run away, run away from all our problems. Do our routine in the morning, go to work and go back home, wait for the tough to go by. First of all, it’s not going to go away because you are not dealing with it, you are not doing anything to solve your problems. Second of all, you are not enjoying life to the fullest. You might be going through a tough time, but I still don’t think that in those days everything is bad. Maybe you discovered a new song, maybe you read a good book or maybe you saw some beautiful flowers. If you concentrate on those little things, your day will be completely different. I like to say that if you go in a rush, you won’t realise the good things that surround you. There isn’t really any meaning in life if you are just sitting around waiting for things to happen. The small things make our life rich, like your cup of tea in the morning, the joy of waking up early and watching the sunrise, the laughs with the bestest of friends, the smell of new baked bread, they are things that put a smile on your face, they are things that make you happy. The big things will come, but instead of ignoring life feeling like there is no point, look around you and “enjoy the little things”.
One of my favourite Youtubers is Lavandaire, she has many inspirational videos. She has a video a little similar to this topic about “finding meaning in life”. Her lifestyle videos are great and really helpful, so you should totally check her out!
I hope you enjoyed this post and that next time you feel like there is nothing good, look around you, there always is, you just have to pay attention.
What are your favourite little things in the day?
Mine is definitely my cup of tea in the morning, it’s a must!
Remember, Be You.
